Did someone say B Team?
The league as a whole has been fairly quiet this month; the committee were working hard to prepare for the British Championships home game. A big thank you to everyone who helped make the day extra special!
At the beginning of June, the committee met up for a meeting to discuss the future of GRD and we have some very exciting plans ahead of us.
We will shortly be announcing the date of the GRD league meeting on facebook. The meeting will be an update of the league finances, discussions about the future of the league, the upcoming calendar and much more.
And because we couldn’t wait to tell you – GRD will be launching a Grim Reavers B Team! With the Grim Reavers dominating Tier 3, it is looking very likely that they will be promoted to Tier 2. We believe that having the B team will benefit the league dramatically, as it will give our fledgling Reavers a head start without the pressure of starting straight at tier 2 level. More will be announced at the league meeting.
May
England Men’s Roller Derby
It was announced this month that Broders was (quite rightly) picked for the England Men’s Roller Derby team!
Scott started his roller derby career with The Brothers Grim and we are very lucky to have his continued support at training since he transferred to Lincolnshire Rolling Thunder.
We are very proud of you Scott!
Deathrow Hull
Thank you, thank you, thank you!
We had such a successful home game on the 19th May. With all the leagues’ help, we managed to run the day smoothly and raise a whopping £190 for the Rainforest Ward.
The cheering and support at the game was amazing to see and hear as well; you were all so loud!
The Reavers had a great day taking the win against Deathrow Hull. The Reaver hive mind is showing on track. The jammers were on fire, the offence was on top form, and the blocking walls were incredibly strong!
The Grim Reavers 302 – Deathrow Hull 132
Best Jammer – ArseNik
Best Blocker – Terror Rack
MVP – Smash Brown
Announcers award – Rolldemort
Coaches award – Pony
Ouch!
Unfortunately this month we saw our Char Bar fall break her ankle at training! She was such a trooper even though she had broken it in two places as well as dislocated it.
We all want to wish her a speedy recovery and all of the GRD love!!
Farewell
We are sad to announce that our favourite lemon drizzle baker, Soggy Bottom, has chosen to leave the league. We want to wish her all the luck in the future!
